  7.   While we are under the hood, let's examine the air filter.  It's a black
  8. round canister usually just over the EFI or  carburetor.  It  normally  is 
  9. opened by some type of snap which holds the cover fast. Open the cover and 
  10. take a  look at the  cleanliness of  the filter.  The  cleaner it is,  the 
  11. better gas mileage you will be getting.  If it looks  dirty,  replace  it.  
  12. Wipe out any dust you may see laying  inside the  canister.  Put  the  new 
  13. filter in place and snap on the cover.

  19.   If there's  only minor  dust on the
  20. filter, that can be tapped lightly on
  21. the street or sidewalk to  remove the
  22. excess dust.  Make  certain  you drop
  23. it flat on the  flat  surface  of the

  29. Wipe off any excess and place it 
  30. back in the  canister.  You  can 
  31. make your air filters  last much  
  32. longer by this technique.
